24th Tin Lizzie Run - Tuakau

24th Tin Lizzie Run – 22nd - 24th November 2019

The era of the paddle steamer

In the 1920's Ceasar Roose, a well-known businessman in the Waikato\South Auckland area, expanded his river transport business by purchasing the Manuwai paddle steamer that had previously plied the Whanganui River. The Manuwai was berthed at Waikato Heads with passengers ferried from Tuakau for travel to Auckland. In celebration of this mode of transport, use your imagination to conjure up visions of a journey by paddle steamer.
